Santo Domingo.- For the third straight year “The Cap Cana Championship,” an official event of the PGA’s Champions Tour 2010 will be staged from February 22 to March 28 in the spectacular Punta Espada signature design of Jack Nicklaus golf course, featuring the world' stop players.
The exotic backdrop will be again the perfect site for the match, for which the Cap Cana executives and the PGA Tour’s representatives hosted a gathering of the press to announce one of international golf’s most awaited competitions.
“The Champions Tour continues growing as a world brand, establishing the strong international presence essential to the Champions Tour’s continuous success,” said PGA Champions Tour President Mike Stevens.
“We’ve been able to capitalize our success in staging the Cap Cana Championship in the Dominican Republic in the last two years, because this has allowed us to continue with a strategy of expansion of the Champions Tour in countries such as South Korea and Canada for 2010,” he said.
Cap Cana Championship director Efrén Garcia-Estrada said standing out among the players who’ve already confirmed their presence for this year are several of 2009’s top ranked golfers.
Keith Fergus returns to defend his title this year against Bernhard Langer, John Cook, Jay Haas, Jeff Sluman, Andy Bean, Dan Forsman, Nick Price, Joey Sindelar, Tom Kite, Mark Wiebe, Eduardo Romero, Craig Stadler, Hal Sutton, Michael Allen, Hale Irwin, Larry Nelson, Bob Tway, Corey Pavin, Dana Quigle, Tom Pernice, Jr Allen Doyle, Bob Gilder, Peter Jacobs, Scott Simpson, Wayne Levi, Tommy Armour III, Bobby and Lanny Wadkins, David Frost and Vicente Fernandez.
