I brought this up on Facebook this morning, and it's still on my mind (one of those little things that just grate on my nerves), so I thought I'd throw it out here for some more discussion. Like many of us, I'm subscribed to all sorts of stuff - email newsletters, LinkedIn and Facebook notifications, blog feeds, etc. - stemming from a variety of professional and personal interests alike.
